Founders Day Concert

Dear Parents and friends of St Henry’s,
St Henry’s Founders’ Day Concert
presented by
International Award-Winning KZN Youth Choir
Last year, for the first time, St Henry’s hosted the KwaZulu-Natal Youth Choir in a concert held in the Association Hall at the school. The Hall was filled to capacity with some late-comers having to stand throughout an excellent concert. As a result of its popularity we have decided to hold the concert at St Joseph’s Catholic Church at 19:00 on Friday 4th June (next Friday) which is also our Founder’s Day.
The KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Youth Choir is 42 years old and consists of selected voices from various schools as well as the University’s “Bel Canto” choir. Last year, shortly after they performed at St Henry’s, they attended an International Choir Festival in Italy where they were awarded Platinum Awards in the categories of ‘Folklore Music’ and ‘Jazz’. They were also selected, from amongst 21 other choirs from various parts of the world, to perform on the day on which the results were announced.
I can assure you that this is a musical experience not to be missed. Since we have to cover the performance costs of this choir, the tickets have been priced at a moderate R50 to cover these costs. Any surplus would go towards the creation of a bursary fund for St Henry’s College.
Although tickets will be on sale at the door on the evening, it is preferable to purchase them beforehand, as pre-purchasing will ensure reserved seats. More than 200 tickets have already been sold, but St Joseph’s is a beautiful, spacious venue, so there is still much space that can be filled. Tickets may be purchased from the school Bursar’s Office between 07:30 and 15:00 each day on schooldays.
Having heard this choir myself last year, I can assure you that your R50 will have been very well spent. I do hope to see you there.
Yours sincerely,
Dr A V G Akal
College Principal.
