After a recruitment process undertaken during the last few weeks, Mrs Charmaine Vermeulen has been appointed as the Deputy Principal for the High School.
Mrs Vermeulen joined the academic staff of St Henry’s in 1995, teaching Accounting and EMS. In 2003, she was made a Head of Department to oversee the phasing in of girls through the High School. Thereafter, Mrs Vermeulen held the position of Head of Department: High School Discipline and then Head of High School Academics and Phase Head for Grades 10-12. In addition, Mrs Vermeulen is the Head of Subject for Commerce and is currently the national IEB Grade 12 examiner for Accounting Paper I. She has a Masters’ Degree in Gender and Education from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
As the Deputy Principal for the High School, Mrs Vermeulen will work closely with Mr Leech in the general management of the High School but also with a particular focus on the academic programme and its development.
Mrs Vermeulen’s appointment is effective from the beginning of the second term of 2017. We congratulate her on this new appointment and wish her the very best in the role.
